whar are the o-rings on the barring carrier and are the crutial to the performance of the part

That's what will keep your carrier from filling up with water, every time you get wet! Mine were shot this last time, and I could tell that there had been dirty water sitting in there for a long time. Not the best thing for happy bearings...........

And, never use the pressure washer on your rear end!
