Bone stock, the Honda makes 35.5 hp at ~7,500 rpm. The Yamaha makes 33 hp at ~8,500 rpm. The Yamaha makes 1.5 less hp, and has to go 1,000 rpm higher to do it!
I don't know why they never include TORQUE on these graphs. Horsepower isn't the whole story, by any means!
Of course, DW still likes the Yamaha better. I'm not surprised, because these guys are So. Calif. "motocross dudes", so what do you expect. The Honda is clearly the better cross-country machine, and is going to suit the average rider better.
Of the top ten finishers at the Baja 1000, nine were 450R's (not a Yamaha anywhere in sight!). Judging from the photos (the front lights), some of them (including the top finisher) were 06's, so that proves that the 06 motor can go the distance!

Pretty much every machine is tested in MX fashion, Im surpride utilities aren't. And this is coming from a guy who races some MX!
Im not going to get in a YFZ vs. 450R p*ssing match, but more RPM's just mean less reliability. Look at the 250f's.

Honda could be quoting 50 crank horse though. But they have no obligation to tell the truth when it comes to horsepower figures, nobody else doesl
