I was looking at some works dual rates w/o res's.For my 300ex.They are like $289.00but with res's they are $409.00.I am not racing just quick trail rides and some jumping on my track?Do I really need res's or not.My stock front shock broke the one on the left side.(when U are sitiing on it.I took the spring of my stock 250r shock made some spacer and used the 300 spring but it bottoms alot!

Good question. I would also like to know too. I do the same type of riding, aggresive, but i don't pound the crap out of it either.

The reservoirs allow the shocks to cool better and perform longer. They allow for a little bit more oil capacity so the shocks don't fade as easily from heat. I would say that it is always a good idea to have them because they do help. However, it is not going to hurt you by not getting them. You may have to service them more frequently though.

If money is the issue you could add them later.
