Can't ride due to illness....this sucks!
 

For everyone out there that rides for recreation/stress-relief/decompression...you name it.

I've been out of commission since Saturday August 12....went to ER with a friggin' kidney stone! I spent 4 days in the hospital, had one procedure, and now I have to go for surgery on Monday the 21st. Great, another week in pain. The stone is impacted (hasn't passed), the urologist will have to go and get it...and would we all like to guess how he's gonna get up/in there? Nope, no incisions in the side or back....guess again. Basically, he's gonna shove this scope up my "package", through the urethra and bladder....man it'll hurt to pee for the next few days. Definitely will not be sitting on any atv seats in the near future.

I'm trying to stay positive, trying to think how fun riding will be once I can do it again. Oh yeah, the morphine wasn't all that bad either.

Tell me about it. Two knee surgeries. One on 6/12 and one on 8/8. I just may go ride today.

Cant ride either right now. I rolled my quad last weekend at Windrock and broke my wrist.

Dang. I feel so bad for all of yall. My dad just got over some kidney stones, so, in a way, i know the pain lol. Sorry about your rolled ATV Dan, and your knees in the past Blue600. I hope all of you are riding again as soon as possible. And i should be joining the Honda family as i plan on purchasing my '06 Foreman 500 ES this week[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

good luck bladder boy, I work in a hospital setting and have seen guys cry out to "Jesus" from being in so much pain, I have even had women tell me they are worse than child birth? Best wishes for a fast recovery

I have been through a few major surgurys or how ever you speel it, just to ride myself. One total hip replacement 3 years ago and the other hip not far behind and my back is just a ticking time bomb And had the joints removed from both little toes due to hammer toes, Just so I can wear riding boots! So bring it on DOC! Whatever it takes LOL
I am just happy to be riding and PRAY for those Brothers and Sisters who are physically of financially less fortunate.

Exact same here, ive worked in hospitals and its rough listening to them in pain.

As for the doc "going to get it" i forget the name of the proceedure but they basically set you in a giant tank that pulses water at you that breaks apart the stones, ask the doc about that proceedure. It basically just bruises you for a couple of days, id rather have that than anything going up me "unit"

Thanks to all for the kind words of encouragement...

I heard alot of nurses/doctors tell that the pain was as bad as labor pains....and I know the whole labor+delivery floor at the hospital because my wife is a nurse there. They were all quite sympathetic.

I was glad to have a morphine drip at my disposal though, although my complications brought on more pain that surpassed the pain meds...oh well.

Yeah, I've checked up on the whole Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy....the bath that slams your body with sound waves to break up the stone. Unfortunately, my urologist has to go back inside regardless to get the stent....so while he's in there, he'll blast the stone....kill two birds with one, ah, stone....man what a bad joke.

I'd opt for the less invasive procedure if I had a choice, but I don't right now...that's why I'm kinda down, I know what's coming tomorrow and it ain't gonna be fun.

Soon enough I'll be back in the saddle...take that however you want to.
