2001 Rancher ES, won't go into reverse

It would go into reverse when it was cold, but now it just simply won't go at all. There are no blinking lights and no codes flashing. Anyone have any ideas?

My guess would be the red button you push in to get the atv in reverse, i bet its cable has stretched and needs to be tighted some.
