Default Honda 4x4 CHOKE?????

I have a 2003 Honda 350 Rancher, 4x4. Love the bike!!! The manual choke worked fine when new, but over the last couple months after pulling the choke out to start in cold weather, it "slips" back to the off position on it's own. Not always a big deal, but when out on a hunting weekend in the sub freezing mornings, you must stand with the bike and hold the choke on until the bike is warm enough to idle. Why my buddy is back inside the cabin (warm) while his bike warms up. I talked to a friend who owns a 05 Rancher and his bike has the same problem. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if it is an easy fix. Not a real major problem, but can be annoying. Thanks to all, HONDA RULES!!!!!

There is a plastic jam nut under the rubber boot .. .You need to tighten it a little with your fingers ..

Both of mine do the same thing, I never really thought much about it. I will check that plastic jam nut now though. Thanks HondaMechanic.

Do you know that it has a carb heater??? Turn the key on for a couple of minutes before you start it, and things may go easier.

Turn the idle up a little, that will help too.

My choke slips in as well. Never really considered it a problem though.

Mine has been doing it since day one. I never got a chance to have a look at it.

I assume this nut is under the boot which is part of the assembly on the handlebars, not under the seat on the carb, correct?

I tightened the plastic jam nut on the choke and it stays put. Thanks again.
Sure is nice to be able to pull the choke out and it stay put. The Bruin choke stays put as does the little 90 so why not the Rancher?

Thanks for the tip Honda Mechanic, the choke hasn't held its position in over two years.
