OK, an all-stock 300EX that runs good, but has been ridden very hard, has a flat tire, and has all plastic cracked for $2600. Is this worth it?

Say What??? RidE, what area to you live in? I'm in Detroit, Michigan and purchased my 1994 300EX this past summer with a DG SuperTrapp pipe kit and a set of rear paddles with rims for $2500. The plastic is in great shape and she runs like a top. Did I get a great deal or does the market you live in garner higher dollar for quads? Just curious.

Ya know, I really wish I lived in an area where there were tons of ATVs for sale, because it seems like everyone else lives there. Yes, around here, people ask for lots of money for quads, as it seems. I live in Northeastern Nebraska. Everything here is $2000-$3000, besides a 400EX for $5000. I live in an urban area with plenty of people, but there are rarely more than 3 quads in the paper, and you have to go search for them on your own to find anything.
Oh, I did go to a nearby town to spot an '86 250R in someone's yard yesterday to find that he'd sell it for $2600. It is in good shape, and mostly stock. The problem, my dad goes for the cheap stuff. I've told him all about it. I also am looking at a Tecate-4 for only $1500. Would you say jump on it? I want hi-performance, but my dad would be buying, and considering the fact that we already have 2, he'd have to find a hell of a deal. That is what the Tecate sounds like though. The problem...we'd have to drive 4 hours, and we can only go off of what this guy tells us. I think he's reliable, and the quad is in pretty good condition, but I'm having a VERY hard time getting my dad seriously interested. I'm 16, he'd be buying.
