Not real fast stock, my kodiak450 Ute will prolly take my 300ex in top speed .........The 300ex is a lot quicker at getting there

The little 300 isn't about drag race speed, it's about highly agile maneuverability. On a tight twisty trail where big horsepower is just wasted, it will beat anything on the planet!

every quad has its "good spot" the 300ex is good at trails, probably not to much else speed wise, but it would be a great begginer quad

For the places I ride, a 300ex does just fine. I have been riding with stock gearing (13x38) with 20" tires, and I seldom get into 5th gear. For the places where I do ride wide open, I use 22" tires for a higher top speed (about 55 mph or so stock). The bike is narrow but not "tippy" ( especially with 20" rear tires), and it has enough power to keep up with anyone on the trails. I have added 400ex front shocks and a 2001 Raptor rear shock, as the suspension is lacking compared to other bikes. It is a good starter sport bike, if you can handle the manual clutch. If you ride in deep mud or wide open areas, get something else. This bike is for the trails, and it excels at that task.
