HONDA 400 FOREMAN
#3
I just recently purchased a used 97 Foreman 400 . For my needs which are mostly for hunting and fishing and for plowing snow I don't think there is a better machine out there . I also own a 91 Polaris 350L 4x4 which has been a good machine but it cannot compare to the Honda .
It's kinda hard to explain but the Honda just feels more solid and dependable . With the super low first gear it can push through just about anything you throw in front of it .Good luck .

I just bought a 450s but after trying my friends 400 foreman I think I made the wrong choise . The 400 has a lower center of gravity , a better ride and much easier steering . The power difference is not that noticable . I vote for the 400 .
[ PS . My 450s is my 14th bike and there is none better than Honda .]

Gabby, ride your 450 over 150 miles before you make your rash decision that the 400 has a better ride. The initial 75-175 miles on a 450s or es is extremely harsh. I know when I got mine at first I had to stand up almost continuosly. But on a big ride with lots of bumps I felt it start to loosen up. Now I love the ride. Except I still have to watch it on jumps and log hopping. I'll soon "hopefully" have works performance shocks all the way around. But for average trail riding the 450 is great shock wise. Just give it time to free up.

I love my 96 Foreman 400. Truly is a great machine both in the field and in the woods. My only complaints:
1) More ground clearance. I am still running stock tires, so bigger tires would help . . . They're just so damn expensive!!
2) Higher Top Speed. I constantly bounce off the rev limiter in 4th gear. The machine could definitly use a 5th gear . . .
Note: This is probably not agreed upon by most members of this group, but personally, I feel that plowing with the Foreman (and probably all others) is somewhat inneffective. I have a real hard time getting down to bare ground with the Cycle Country 48" plow. Usually, you leave .25" snow cover. It is fun to plow though!!
Highly Recommended!!
