Tires for Rancher 420?

I want to put ITP Mudlite Xtr's on my Rancher. Will 27 inchers fit or should I go with 26's? Will I gain top end with the 26's and more yet with the 27's because they're taller or will I lose top end because I won't have the power to turn them? Any advise is appreciated.

With stock tires, the Rancher is a sweet little trail quad. I tried big tires on mine, and it absolutely ruined the handling. Turned it into a slug!

I know everybody wants to put huge tires on their utes (I did too!), but it is a mistake on these little machines. If you need a monster quad that will handle huge tires, then sell the Rancher and buy one of the ever popular monsters......

Anyone else try big tires on their Rancher? How do they affect the speed and power of the machine? Will the taller tires make the machine faster because of higher gearing or slower because of the additional weight?

My friend has both a '02 Rancher 350 2x4 and a '07 Rancher 4x4. He has 25" Mudlites on both on them. His '07 handles just like the stocks do on my '07 Rancher. The '02 is a different story. It is like trying to drive a car without power steering. Absolutely horrible!

So, with 25" I think that you will notice a better ability to get unstuck without losing handling. Not sure about 26s or 27s...

i have 27's on mine, and they dont rub. but you will lose power. even with all my mods i can still tell a difference. the only way i would get bigger tires on it is if you ride alot of mud. the do take away from the agility
