My quad wont turn over!
its a 2007 honda 420cc rancher ES
i had just done probably the dumbest thing in my life the other day,
i attempted to go throug a creek approx. 3 - 4 feet deep, but not knowing it when entering, as soon as the muffler went under water, the machine stalled. we toed it out of the water and drained the muffler plug on the back end
is there anything i could check, we had also checked the circuts and no fuses were blown, just the electrical box was very wet, is that the problem or is there water in my muffler still.
please give suggestions

Does it do anything when you hit the start button?
You may have water in the cylinder, which won't compress and can prevent the motor from turning over. Pull the spark plug and ground the wire, and see if it turns.
If there is water in the oil or in the cylinder, grit and dirt may also have gotten in...

i tried getting it up on its back wheels, as soon as i put it down, the water comes out of the two bolts that are along the exhaust pipe near under the seat of quad, and the drain plug on the back tip of the muffler, as soon as i start to rock the machine, the water comes out more.
advised to rock the machine and hopefully most of the water gets out?

You also need to pull the spark plug and turn it over with the plug out, you more than likely got water in the engine. Drain the carb. too. Warm it up and then change the oil and filter.
Don't try to start it anymore with the spark plug in, if there is water in the cylinder you run the chance of damaging your valves.
Make sure it is completely clear of water before trying to start it again.

If the plug looks OK, it probably is. You just need to pull it and crank the motor so it can expel water in the cylinder.
How does the oil look? If there's a bunch of water in there, I'd drain and replace it before attempting to start it.
If dirt or grit got into the motor, tearing it down for cleaning is about the only way to make sure it's all out.
