Were'd My Top End Go?
I lost it when I put my 12T sprocket on. I knew I was going to loose it but not as much as I did. I want bolt on preformace or clip on but doesnt have to do w/ the motor or exhaust! I can get a header like FMF's PowerBomb but I dont know if that will help any.. I can get a new exhasut tip.. So I can do anything just no motor or the slip-on exhaust part just the tip and header. You think you could help?

Bolt on performance not dealing with motor or exhaust...Don't think it exist.
Don't quite understand why you don't want an exhaust but I guess if you want to remove the spark arrestor and install the header it would be close to the equivalent of a slip-on. You still have to re-jet it or burn it up. As far as the sprocket don't expect a performance gain. Your only changing the gearing. |

Money's tight, i get trust me. But dig this......your gearing you are playing with is directly related to the type....i said type.....of "power" you are looking for. I had stock 400ex i dropped one tooth on the front drive sprocket, I lost top end but gained torque 1-3rd and fouth is weak and fifth is strong. So if i want to go down one sprocket in the front i have to go up one tooth in the rear for every two teeth i drop in the front. It doesnt cause me to go the same top end as stock but it does go there alot faster. But in those muddy days. huh uh we aint even tryin to go through mud in first or second anymore it's first only and it's a cautious first in mud cause now it rpm's quick as hell and i have more torque on the rear. Gearing will get you substantial power but expect to loose top end or torque if you push it too far. We need top end to keep up and torque to get out the hole. Koopa said it all when he said you have to rejet the carb anyway. Here's my advice: Put one tooth smaller than the stock setup on the drive. Save your cash until you can set up a header, exhaust, and jetkit. Until then your going to damage your wheeler if you try to push the limits. Put your stock front sprocket back on and get a new rear sprocket with two teeth up. This will make you lower than stock but not as low as you are now. Plus if you can afford a cheaper CDI box(rev box) you will gain a little power and top end. Good luck!

If you try to run it with open headers and a stock exhaust with no baffle and not jetted it will burn plugs, starve for the correct fuel air mixture, and possibly damage the needle in the carb. I was just sayin if money is an issue right now, dont try to do much without the whole system or the correct system.

Your welcome, I spend a lot of my time going to Cyco Cycle and looking for scrap parts or i just fab my own, like my skid plates. I made all my own and bought the front bumper for like 99.00 all the rest i had to fab up. Anyway, tryin to keep up with the jones's and gettin what everyone eles has is hard sometimes. Lemme know and i will show ya how to spend the least and get the most. People always wanna go for the exhaust and header but for 149.00 instead of the 750.00 you can install a hot cam and lower your front sprocket one tooth and get pimp speed and torque. so your sprocket is 16.95 at any honda dealer and then goto www.bikebandit.com and get the aftermarket hot cam for 149.00 and juice it up. I dont know about you but it is a lil easier for me to come up with 149.00 than 750.00. By the way I have a bad ass 75mph go kart i will trade for a wheeler. If you know anyone interested.

I do not right now but I will honestly keep my eyes open and ask around! Also is a cam hard in install? the reason I asked is because of my dad.. My dad is not like one of those dads you see helping the kid at a park or swinging with them or anything. my dad is the one who you never know when he will blow up at you or anything and I just asked my dad about the 440 kid (I just asked) and that was enough for him to blow up (in front my full fledged christan grandparents and he was like I WILL NEVER HELP YOU AGAIN!!!! IF YOU GET THAT DAN THING WITH WILL MAKE YOUR STOCK HONDA NOT STOCK ANYMORE AND IT WILL BE "BACK YARD MICHANICS!" and he was like screaming and everthing.. I had cancer when I was 8 and that was the only time he really spent time with me only because I was dieing but I am 13 now and he is still the same just last night I asked him about a YOSH and he started blowing up.. well I will shut up.. thats why I cant do anything to the motor.. hey you gotta aim.. we can tlak over that.. TTYL!
