Flickering lights
I have a 97 trx300FW. I went to run it a few weeks ago and the lights were flickering and dim. I put a new battery and there fine...but if I disconnect the battery while its running they do what they were doing, flickering and dim. Is that normal or should the alternator put enough out to keep the lights going? I dont want to take it out and lose lights as soon as it drains the battery..

Flickering lights
Anyone know if you diconnect the battery will the lights flicker??

Flickering lights
I would think at idle w/no battery getting dim might be normal... Do you have a volt meter?

Flickering lights
Flickering when the battery is removed is normal. At idle your stator doesnt put out as many volts. When you rev it, the lights should get brighter without a battery. They get brighter because the stator puts out more volts. When the battery is connected the lights should be the same brightness all the time because its running off the 12 volt battery at all times. Hope this helps

Flickering lights
I have a 2005 Rubicon and it does the same thing when I hit the brakes. I would say it is normal.

Flickering lights
i have a 400ex and the lights flicker on it somtimes because the light switch is bad and their dim if its idle but the stator is fine

Flickering lights
With the battery didsconnected, they are dim and flicker. when you apply throttle they dim out more but get steady.. Voltmeter on the battery terminals with one disconnected while the bike is running should show what its chargeing at correct?

Flickering lights
With the battery hooked up, you should see a voltage increase when it's reved up, vs when it isn't running.
