HELP!!! fuse and shfter issue on 07 rancher at 4x4
#1
Here is the issue. I have an 07 rancher at 4x4 with 22 hours on it(134 miles) It is only used to transport corn and misc items around our hunting club, so it does not get any rough treatment. Today i used it for the firs time in 2 months. It ran like a champ for a few hours, then i shut it off to take a lunch break. I then started it back up and the "--" gear position light was on and it would not go forward or reverse with any speed. I checked the fuse first and it was blown. I turned the unit off, replaced the 30a fuse and switched it to the on position and the "N" was back. I thought that was it but then as soon as the engine turned over the fuse popped immediately. I have the factory repair manual and did some troubleshooting for code 12.(it flashed 12 times) After testing and hooking the connections back up, I then got a code 5.(flashed 5 times) The fuse still pops everytime I start the engine. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Well if you have the factory manual you should have the wiring schematic. Look at every connection that is related to that fuse. If all look ok, you can disconnect all of them and connect them one at a time until the fuse blows. When the fuse blows that is your problem sensor/circuit. Check wires for chafing where a circuit could be shorted to ground....

OK, now done all the tests and finally unhooked the natural connecter for the control motor and it started fine without blowing the fuse. So i need to replace the control motor. 2 questions, where is the cheapest place online to get one, and why would it burn out after only 22 hours and 135 miles?

just a thought, could the shifter being slightly out of adjustment cause it to burn up, or maybe a low battery. it seemed like it got stuck between gears. The factory manal says to test for at least 11 volts, all i got was 9.9 on the initial test.

Was that 9.9 KOER or KOEO? Disconnect the harness and checked it both running and not and see what your at. I don't have the manual for your bike, only my 07' foreman ES(unless they're the same?)
