2005 rancher 400 at not shifting

I just bought a 2005 Rancher 400 at. Within the first hour of use, my son limped it home stuck in first gear. He was in the ESP mode when the problem occurred. I am getting a code 5. ( i guess its a code 5 because the "- -" is flashing 5 times then stopping, then flashing 5 times again. Is there a trouble tree or volt/ohm test i can do. i ordered a service manual but it will take 10 days to get here. I hate to start guessing by throwing parts at this thing.

That is exactly what i was looking for. Thank you for the quick response. Seems the resistance values in the angle sensor are not even close to what they should be. I'll stop by my local dealer in the morning. Thanks again

Don't forget to pre-load the angle sensor when you install it..
