I have the same problem with the Rancher; every time it's a new electric shifter.
Get rid of it at a dealer and buy something else.
I'll never own another Honda.

The system operates off 5 volts.
Main causes of them not shifting in that year is #1, the shift control motor being bad. #2, Gear position switch bad, #3, Shift angle sensor is bad
Your quad has no diagnosis features on the meter so if there is any issue with the shift system, it just will not work until the issue is resolved. No codes stored.

Did you get it fixed, if it wont shift at all then check the wiring to the crankshaft angle sensor, if that is off or bad it wont shift at all, my machine is intermittent, sometime I loose the speedometer and then shift all the way up to 5th just to find I have to shut off the machine and shift all the way down to restart, did you get yours fixed ???
