exhaust help on 300ex

I'm wanting to get an aftermarket exhaust for my 300ex. I dont want to spend the money on a full system so my question is if i get a slip on will it give the bike more power or will it just be for sound? Also if i get a slip on will i still have to rejet the carb? Thanks in advance for any help.

you will not get much power gain out of an aftermarket exhaust.Even if you put the new head pipe on.You might re-jet but probably will not have to.

Thanks for the reply. What brand would you suggest? I was kinda leaning toward a HMF but i am open to any suggestions.

I wouldnt go with cobra

Get a FMF Powercore 4, or Factory 4.1

HMF pipes are great too

Mine came with a cobra Jet exhaust,
it looks nice, and it sounds mean as can be

Bike is also jetted, and has head pipe, uni air filter, 350X air boot, 14t front sprocket, run with or without
lid depending on temp.. bike outruns my friends 300ex with stock gearing, k&n air filter, 350x boot (copy cat)
stock header, stock jetting, and white bros E series slip on,
when i had the 13 t up front I killed him in drags, and im at least 50 lbs heavier.
