88 foreman won't restart

I have a '88 foreman. Last weekend it started and ran for 5minutes, then died. It has good fuel flow, good spark, cranks good, and will sputter once in awhile. Full of gas. Has never had a problem in the year I have had it. Was running fine the week before. I live in Minnesota, but the cold spell up here came in after it quit running. Have tried getting it warmed up and did not help. Any ideas???

Fuel flows well out the carb when you open the drain?

I'd be thinking one of the passages in the carb is clogged, or the float valve stuck. Another possibility would be fouled spark plug, especially if the choke was left on too long.

Thanks. I have read several similar threads, and they all recomend taking the carb apart for cleaning. Did this this morning and therewas some small bits in the bottom of the float bowl. Need to pick up some newo-rings for the bottom drain plug and the primary jet to put it back together. I work on heavy trucks all day and havn't had to tear a carb apart in anything for several years. Forgot how small the passages were. Will let you know if this helped.

Yeah, get some B-12 Chemtool or similar spray can of carb cleaner, and blow it through all the little passages, followed by compressed air.

If you need a few O rings and other parts, it might be worthwhile to get a rebuild kit to get all of the little wear parts while you are messing with it.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Also, welcome to the forums.

OK. Cleaned out the inside of the carb and installed a ne gasket set tonight. Fired rigth up liek it always has, even at 15 degrees. Must have been somthing caught in the carb. Taking the carb out and apart was alot easier than I was thinking it would be. Problem solved. Thanks for the input JeffinTD!!!!!
