Default Rancher snorkel questions

Ok guys
Stone stock 04 400 Honda rancher 27" mudzillas
only mods are clipped carb spring and lowered c clip on metering rod. All vent hoses are rerouted to handle bars RUNS GREAT.....

I am in the process of snorkeling the bike.
stock snork inlet is 1 3/8"
engine will rev fine and then hits the limiter in neutral at a good high rpm. (this is just an example)
Started snorkeling the bike and used 1 1/2 pool flex hose (the cheap ribbed just trying to get an idea of where everything should go...
Just for grins I started the bike and ran it some (in neutral) and found it idles fine and mid range is fine but at WOT the engine hits the limiter at a lower rpm.... or ?????
Also the more 90* fittings I add seem to make the problem worse... Is the pipe to small or to large? Just asking for EXPERENCED advice on this issue
Rejetting is not a problem, if I need to.
I am 50 years old and have had race cars in my past so tech stuff is not an issue...
This is my new hobby and I dont like junk...
I am just looking for good advice from rancher people in the know.
Thanks in advance.
Al

I used 1.5" ABS pipe for mine, the ribbed tubing is probably making turbulance, plus you are making the intake longer then stock so you want to try to keep it as smooth as possible.

I have an 04 400AT and snorkeled it using the pool flex hose 1 1/2" and noticed an increase in power. I only have 1 90 degree bend at the flex to PVC connection and then a a 180 turn down on top of a 12" stack.

You might have a main jet issue and need to increase the size. Turbulance is not an issue with the flex hose.
