My 'new' 88 trx200sx 4trax partial rebuild project.
Hi everyone,
I recently bought an '88 Honda FourTrax TRX200SX for $500
It runs like a champ but is in serious need of general maintenance.
It has no brakes so i have begun rebuilding the back brakes 1st.
The drum was just about seized to the axle from lack of grease, so i had to remove the whole damn axle. Upon getting the drum off I was suprised to find no brake shoes inside. Today I bought new EBC shoes and tomorrow i'll be picking up two new Bearings for the rear axle; one turns but is gritty and the other doesn't turn at all!! I was quoted $8.95 a peice and while the axle is out now would be a great time to rebuild since it is a 22 year old bike. Monday I cleaned the Centrifugal Oil filter, I located it through an owner's manual i found online. Pictures below are after I cleaned it. (it had near a 1/4" of build up all the way around). I think my 4 wheeler is in decent shape and has a lot of potential. Once I get the rear axle back on I'll post some pics. Tie Rods and a new air filter are also on the list. Later- Justin

Hey, Iv'e had a trx 200 since I bought it new in 86 and I love this little bike I've also got a couple other bigger quads but I still find it a blast to ride my little Honda, you will find this bike to be bullit proof. We have abused this bike over the years but still took good care of it and it's never given us any problems . Good luck getting the front brakes working properly mine haven't worked well since new no matter what I do , Iv'e come to the conclusion it's just a bad design I too have had to replace rear bearings and brakes, I'm on my third set of tires third set of chain and sprockets second air filter but that's it, Take care of it and it is my opinion it will last a lifetime. The motor has really good power for a 200, and you can do wheelies for as long as you want or till you run into somthing. Good luck.

I also have bought a 86 trx200sx
The things is in realy ruff shape. I have started replacing this and that but i am stuck on the rear axle i have a preaty good idea on how it comes apart. There is a couple of nuts on the axle it self on the drum side, i was able to remove the outside nut but i am unable to move the inside sleeve/nut thingy. Any help over all on this bike would be great
