Honda Recon won't start

My Son's Honda Recon 250 won't start. New plug and battery. Getting spark but it looks like there is no fuel getting to the plug.... any idea's

2007 Recon, does this have a fuel filter? I could not find it. How can I test to see if fuel is getting to the carb?

Thanks Dan

There is a strainer in the fuel petcock on the tank. You have to remove the tank, then the fuel valve to get at it.

You could remove the fuel line from the carb and then turn the fuel valve to "on" or "reserve" to see if fuel flows through the line. If so, then it's time to tear into the carb and check to make sure the float is not stuck in a closed position.

Have you tried the fuel valve in the reserve position? Are sure there is enough fuel in the tank?

I have tried moving it to the reserve and on... Will check the line at the carb

You can also open the float bowl drain at the bottom of the carb. Gas should run out of the overflow tube on the underside of the carb.

This would also verify that gas is getting through the float's needle valve.

Has it been sitting for a while? Often the gas in the float bowl will go stale quickly, because gas goes bad fastest in small quantities when exposed to air.

Ethanol now in gas makes it go stale much faster.

It was the carb... Took it off, took it to a carb shop $30.00, he is up and running.

Thanks for the replies!

What exactly was wrong with the carburetor, because I have a 2003 Honda recon 250 that is doing the same thing?
