I am planning on buying a 300EX i have riden my friends 300EX and my other friends Banshee....I like the ride of both but the 300EX feels more like the bike I could enjoy. What I am hoping to gain from this post is the Pro's and Con's of owning the Honda 300EX, and one other thing my buddies and I do mostly trail riding. Any input will be appreciated.

pros:
good steady power reverse good trail quad electric start cons: could be faster (330 kit, wow) descent suspension, but not like a 400ex |
There is not many con's of the 300ex.
Pro's: Fast great handling manual clutch climbs good comfortable reverse a lot of posible upgrades, mods ,big bores great wheelies little matenince Con's: you can keep up to your freinds banshee. |
I own both a 400EX & a 300EX (for the wife), so here's my $.o2 worth:
Pro's 1) typical over engineered Honda (read: bullet proof) 2) reverse 3) comfortable (has a firmer seat than the 400EX) 4) small dementionally, which is nice when you're loading multiple vehicles in your truck, toy hauler, etc. 5) gets good gas mileage 6) quiet 7) stock tires last a long time 8) wheelies easily Cons 1) gutless 2) no suspention (you'd have to weigh under 150lbs and stay on the smoth stuff to like the way it handles). 3) sounds like a Recon (read: sissy bike) 4) tippy 5) small gas tank (but so do all the other quads) 6) SLOOOOOOWW!!! 7) too small for riders over 5'-10" 8) did I mention it's a slug? |
I've had mine a little over a year now and don't see too many cons for the type of riding you want to do. I trail ride 90% of the time. It's plenty fast for trails, reverse is a life saver, nimble enough to get over and thru alot in the woods. The stock suspension is fine for woods riding and the occasional jump. I've got some big air on mine and I'm 6' 190 lbs. Just my input on the matter

Pros
-More than enough power to have fun with -Great handling -Great woods, and trail quad, one of the best -pretty damn good jumper -reliable as can be, beat the crap out of it and she'll keep coming back for more -light and nimble -Small enough for tight trails, big enough for a pretty damn big adult to ride Cons -You'll get all muddy if you own this quad, or any quad for that matter -Your neighbors will hate you for doing wheelies in front of their house -You might fall off the back when doing those wheelies -no time for anything other than riding this quad -Your girlfriend will hate you because you couldn't make it because "i HAD to wash the quad first" LOL |
i love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything
had a chance to trade it for a 400ex, and i wouldn't do it. You can't beat it. Now mine runs rings around 400exs. |
Yeah i had a 300ex and now i own a ds650. I would say the only con on the 300ex would be the power. It it alittle low on power in stock form, but in the woods it will still walk away from most other quads (tight woods). Its alittle small, but the suspension is very good for a sport quad, no matter what they say, i'm 200 lbs and it worked reallly good for only being like 7 inches or whatever it was. I sometimes miss mine because i had it alittle tweeked and in the woods i could smoke a lot of other bigger boys w/ my "small" 300ex, it was really fun on that thing.
00 ds650 -nerf bars -endcap -oury grips -razr rears -douglas .190 rims -K&n air filter |
