Mine was "resale red".

Notice that it has both the "Fourtrax" and "Foreman" labels. Since US parts sources all list both TRX350 and TRX350D for years 86-89, I assume the 2 sub-models were available those years in the US. A quick check of the label parts for each show the "Foreman" designation is only for the latter.

It also has an add-on LED fuel gauge and winch. Also the factory detachable center headlight with handle like most of the 80s-era utility ATVs had.

Very nice sr.ruedas ...... do you still have it? They are a 'chunky' looking quad with the wide rubber front and back ...... yours looks good!

My '86 had larger diameter tubing in the racks than my '90 had. I swapped them before the '86 was sold. The earlier models had black seat and dash trim, and no rear fender panel behind the foot pegs.

I always thought it was odd that Honda put larger 25" tires on the 350 Foreman but their bigger motored 420 Rancher has small 24" tires.
Maybe a production cost saving strategy?

That 350 is sure in good shape. I like the mess screening idea on the racks.

Thx. Sold a year ago. My 96 TRX300FW 4x4 is far more nimble and comfortable.

I see the different front light treatment yours has. Also a gauge sticking out of the front rack....odo/speedometer?

These old quads were well-made, despite having steel tanks.

That's one tuff looking front drive setup ( rock crusher). They sure do not make them like that anymore.

Honda was building two classes of 4x4 ATVs, the larger TRX350D Foreman, in parallel with the smaller TRX300FW. The former eventually became the TRX400, then TRX450 Foreman, with 25" tires. The latter morphed into the smaller Ranchers, including the long-lived TRX420, still with 24s, apparently.

I also had an 02 TRX450 Foreman 4x4, and that one was huge. Now, it's the Rincon. Rancher 420s and TRX300FWs together prob account for the biggest selling 4x4 utilities in the US.

I had had a 2001 450es Foreman for awhile I sold it to a friend who still rides with us to this day.
People sure complain about the E.S shifting system but that ATV never had a problem with it so far (13 years). Lucky I guess?

Lots of interesting info about these charming old machines .....
Just a few photos that show the front differences between sr.ruedas' fine machine and a Canadian '90 model ....

Friends have a TRX420 ES at their ranch, and they hate it. I drove it for a while (my first ES experience), and I did not see any problems. What folks don't often understand is this setup is still a semi-auto trans with centrifugal clutch, and they can be balky sometimes. They do not like to shift with any loads on the gearbox, ES or not. Folks also need to adjust their clutch free-play now and then, just like any semi-auto, even Hondas.

Honda's ES has its own computer/controller, and it helps with error codes.

And one final thing about ES: I see that at least the 450 gives access to the foot shifter shaft, so your can add a foot shift lever and bypass ES.
