Need some advice!
Hello all! I am sorry if I am in the wrong area.. But I am BRAND NEW to this forum and hopefully I will find what I am looking for!
Ok! So I am looking for a Quad/Bike to do trail riding. I've searched for days!!! I want something with LOTS of power, nothing small that runs like 50. I am riding with a ttr-125, Raptor 660r, and a grizzle 500. I wanna be able to keep up OR out run the raptor, so I am up to almost any quad or bike. Looking for the 2500$ price range. Hopefully this helps! Thanks! |
If you want something with a manual clutch and speed is more important than ground clearance and having 4x4, then get a Raptor 660 of your own. You should be able to find a used one within the $2500 price range you mention. A Honda 400 ex would still be a good choice. Its not quite as fast but it will cost less and still be a fun trail machine. A Suzuki Z400 would be another good choice, it has slightly more power than the 400ex and you can find a good used one for less than $2500 as well. The 450 class sport atvs are faster such as a Yamaha yfz450, Honda 450r and Suzuki and Kawasaki 450s but its harder to find used ones for $2500 that are ready to ride. Most are going for more than that but you might get lucky. Check your local craigslist page, I'm sure you'll find something there.

In a strait line, you will need a more built 660, raptor 700, a 450, or maybe a ds650. Most other machines will be slower. Now once you get into the woods and twisties, that much less powerful 400ex is fully capable of walking away with a good rider. If you are in with a tt125 and an older grizz, you don't need all that speed to keep up as neither of those is particularly fast.

I was looking on my local craigslist just now and saw a 2004 raptor 660 for $1600 in good shape. There were a couple more around $2000. I even saw a couple of Raptor 700's for around $2500, which have even more power. I have no idea where you live(I'm in southern Illinois) but I'm guessing a quick search of your local craigslist will come up with something similar. So a Raptor is probably going to be the best bang for your buck. There were a lot of 400ex's on there too but the nicer ones were close to the same price as the Raptors so the Raptor looks like a better deal and it has reverse too. The older 400ex's didn't have reverse. You might not use it much but it might come in handy sometimes as opposed to having to put it in neutral and push a 400lb machine. Good luck.

I want something with LOTS of power, A 4wd 660 Grizzly will give a 400ex a run for its money in acceration and top end speed down some simple gravel road ride. |
