My honda recon is hesatating right when u give it gas

Clean the carb out, blow all jets out with compressed air, don't alter any adjusters. The mounting nuts are awkward to remove/re-fit.

That did help but did not fix

Try running with the choke slightly on, if that cures the misfire, either you haven't cleaned it out properly or someone has been messing with the adjusters. If it isn't carb, it could be the plug so fit a new one, the colour of the old plug nose will give an indication of if your carb is weak or rich, so check it when you take the plug out. Check valve clearances, unlikely to cause the misfire but you need them right for good performance anyway. Check the voltage across the battery with the engine running at various speeds, between 13 and 14.5v is right, below 12.5 and it probably isn't charging (faulty regulator or stator) and above 15V the regulator is faulty. I have known a faulty CDI to give this symptom but it is expensive so you need to have eliminated all else before going down that route.

Could it possibly be an airleak

Could very well be an air leak. With the quad running, spray pb blaster around the carb boots to check for air leak. If air is leaking it will bubble. the pb blaster will not hurt the internals of the motor. Could be a boot that is not on correctly or a boot that has small cracks. Also check throttle on carb and check that the air fuel mixture is correct. If air fuel mixture is too lean, that will cause a hesitation when throttle is pushed.
