i changed the oil & filter in my 2004 rubicon
2004 rubicon . I got it up to temp , i changed the oil & filter . but it only held 4 qts of oil to refill it .. i ran it for a while and rechecked it and it still shows full... did i not drain all of the old oil or what ..... i have read it holds 5 or so qts of oil .....i put Honda GN4 oil and a honda oil filter in it ...... what am i doing wrong . i drained the oil in the crank case and drained the oil filter ... i let it set and drain for prolly 20 min's ... also this is the second time changing the oil and same thing both times ... i dont have a owners manual either ... so if one of you guys or gals could explain what i am doing wrong , or show me some pic's of the correct way to drain all the oil out it would be a lot of help ... thanks and have a nice day.

I don't have the manual either, but found it takes hours for the oil level to settle after an oil change. I usually check the next day, and it takes a lot more oil. This would indicate that the hole between the big cast alloy tank at the front and the sump itself, is quite small, so you may not have got all the old oil out. This is no big deal, check the level today and top up if it is down. There are two different Rubicon engines anyway, one has a filter you can get at, t'other is under the belly plate plastics, they changed circa 2004.
