Default Honda 350 rancher ES got gas but won’t start

Honda 350 rancher ES got gas but won’t start. I put a new piston rings And cylinder on it then clean the carb up and clean the valves on the cylinder head and put a new spark plug in. I went to start it and it cranked up but would only Ideal . When I went to press the gas it would just die. It only would run in joke, the next day it would not start at all. Has plenty of gas coming into the carb has good spark turns over fine but will not start. When I first tried to start it it ask like it wants to and sometimes backfires. If anybody knows or has any idea what’s wrong please help me figure this out. I have rebuilt only one atv So I am still learning. Thanks for your help

I have been doing some Research and I have found out that it could be the CDI box. Do you think this could be the problem

Have you ever heard it run before build job? If you remove air filter and spray carb cleaner into carb will it hit and run?Right its to early to decide on cdi yet, also other things to check before that is up to the table.

I bought the thing about a year ago top end was locked up so I tried to go the cheap way and put a off brand piston on . Well it ran a little drove around the yard and something happened and it stop working . I found out it was the piston again so I bought a better piston and cylinder and used head cleaned everything up. It started and Idled with The choke on for about 10 minutes. Later I went to start it back up it would not start. But when I was idling if I took it off I don’t ever di choke on for about 10 minutes. Later I went to start it back up it would not start. But when I was idling if I took it off Idled it would die or if I pressed the gas. I have not been able to get it running sense then.
