How do you install 400ex rings?
 

I'm rebuilding a 400EX top and everything is going well I just need some help. What Rings go where there is a polished copper ring that's either the top or second and then there's your oil ring's and 2 identical small rings that go on the bottom right?

You have to Stagger the ring Gaps . I just did a whole rebuild so feel free to ask me anything Its still fresh in my mind .

Okay thanks! What do you mean by stagger? Never gotten into the pisotn so still learning

The opening in the rings (gaps) can't line up (otherwise you'll loose compression)...usually there are pins in the piston ring grooves to prevent this...

Okay, there is My oil ring, the two spacers. (I know where they go) and then a black ring and a copper ring. which one goes on top?
