2006 350 rancher ignition switch works backwards
2006 350 rancher TM bought used, runs great but the seller lost the key so previous owner/seller put a new(aftermarket I'm sure) ignition switch in it. It works fine but its backwards: when switch is in the off position the lights all work and it cranks and runs fine all day long, but with switch turned clockwise to what is normally the on position lights go off and it stops running. The plug/connector from the ignition switch is same as stock/oem so the aftermarket switch at least plugs in the factory connector just fine(no evidence previous owner cut wires and hacked in a non oem wrong brand generic switch) Could it be possible that the seller indeed bought a honda style switch but for a different year or model? ? also could i have a diode or some other component that is bad in the ignition circuit??
Any ideas??

I find that with Chinese "knock off" parts, they often have a weird fault. Suzuki Eiger/400KQ ignition switches are prone to going bad, new ones are stupidly expensive. Chinese copies cheap but, although the plug for the harness is correct, the wires are too short and won't reach. On 350 Ranchers, the cheapo Chinese copy carb is fine, except the excess fuel device leaks. Fit the float bowl from your old carb and you are away.

Problem solved
Even though I bought an L cheap knock off when I put the new eL cheapo knock off in, it corrected the problem so I don’t know if the ignition switch that the previous owner put in was a European model or something that made it turned backwards I.e. from right to left to be on instead of from left to right or clockwise rotation to be on so anyway now it works fine with the new switch
