I had the opportunity to ride two other 400EX's on the weekend.

Mine is bone stock except the main jet is upped a couple of sizes and I have a Uni Filter. The rest is stock.

The other one has an FMF MegaMax. I think it needs proper jetting to get more out of it.

The third has a White Bros. E Series, and a rev box.

The White Bros. machine had more power, and it was right in the middle. My stocker has tons of bottom end power, but this one had less in the bottom, and way more in the mid range. It really reved out. It would pull even with a modified TRX250R.

The FMF didn't feel like it had any more than the stocker in any of the power range.

Both are MUCH louder than stock.

For now, I am sticking with my machine as stock. I am not convinced that I need anything more...

I just purchased a 2000 400ex and went through the same situation. A good friend of mine has the Big Gun system for his 400ex. And it sounds and looks great. When I race him he does pull away so i know it does perform better than stock. Though he did jet it and put on a K&N filter. I just purchased the DMC Dual system for mine. It will be here on wednesday so u can email if u want to know how it performs. I ordered it through Duncan Racing and they have a 30 day return policy. The guy i talked to said they've spent many hours on the 400ex and this system with a K&N filter, removed airbox lid, jetting, and up one tooth on the front sprocket is the best combo, and I'll be very happy. So we'll see.. If i'm not happy I'll return it and get the BIG GUN. Good luck.
