I'm going to get a new mud machine and i was thinking about getting the new grizzly 660 or i might just put some mud tires on my honda rancher. what do you think that i should do?

man, dont get a Grizz, my friend here got one and all it was was TROUBLE, it was never working, allways breaking down, oil got into the tranny and all this other junk.. He ended up selling it and buying a 400ex.. If you want a mud machine get a 450ES that engine is a powerhouse, more low-end power then a Rubicon and still the great ES and hondas design. I have a rancher and it gets through mud like its its job, but a 450 would run bigger mud tires better... peace

Rancher4x4 are you talking about the new grizzly cause that is the one she is asking about. I highly doubt that a 450ES can hang with the new 660 in the mud. The new grizzly has the locking front which will leave the rancher and 450 in the dust. Mudslinger, if the new grizzly is an option for you, I dont see how you could go wrong. The rancher and 450 are far from being in the same class as the new grizzly so its not a fair comparision. With some mud tires and that locking front, the new grizzly is sure to be the king of mudding.

i think right now i would go with the prairie 650 until the grizz has been proven. yamaha hasn't been too reliable in their new designs lately i.e. RAPTOR

I'd vote for old reliable 450 S. The one with that funny L-shaped lever on the left side of the engine case. The new models will have 2 or 4wd option. Proven design, plenty of torque, aftermarket goodies available. Conventional wisdom has been to avoid the 1st year of production on a new model while the bugs get worked out. I know Cannondale has had to rework the flywheels and front spindles on all their machines from last year, for example. The best shade of Honda red is yellow, but then I'm biased...

well i know that the griz and prarie would have some power but i think that you should just try the new 450 with that push button 4x4. i know its less motor but its still a beast and is by far more reliable than these new 650's, its been proven.

A rubicon would be nasty in the mud too. Got a lot of power and already proven.

I ride a 450 ES and have not had a problem in the mud (still have stock tires) and there is PLENTY of raw power in this machine (I weigh 225). All of the quads suggested will go through mud with certain aftermarket products in place...aftermarket parts are sort of the great equalizer for all makes of bikes. However with all things being equal I would purchase a quad from a trusted company with a good track record...oh yeah in the right color...GREEN!! Mudslinger if your looking for a true mud machine go with the POLARIS SPORTSMAN 500 HO, unlike the other brands it has a locked 4x4 system which means all wheels spin at all times, instead of only 3 wheels spinning in tough situations like honda or yamaha. Plus fully independent suspension that offers a full 12" inches of ground clearence, reverse override, decent stock mud tires, I can go on and on but I think this can speak for itself.
