They are just embarrassed. Just kidding guys (I couldn't resist).

Anyway, I know that my Yamahas had the HP listed on the title; the number was the HP at the crank not wheels, BTW. There are a few sites with dyno runs as well.

trx250104,
Why doesn't the dealer just tell you! How many Hondas have they sold with all those certificate of origins going through that business. They know what hp each model has. It has horsepower stated on every certificate. Chet

I have to agree with WyoDuner, if they told you the HP figures, everyone would rush to their Yamaha dealer...ahahahahahahah

I don't know if they tell the power figures (which would be at the crank anyway)...but Mobile Dyno does. It's funny to see the banshee has like 34hp (actaully, between 34 and 38)...and yamaha says it puts out 51hp...huh? Does the trans really make you loose 17hp????

There are many losses of power from the crank to the dirt. The tranny, the electrical load, 6-7% chain loss( or 6-7% for each diff+2 or more% for each joint slightly out of line ) low pressure tire rolling resistance 10%, any bearing other than straight high grade roller motor bearings 1%. It's just plain uglyfor 4wd-Lessee 8%trannie loss, 14% diff losses, 8% CV shaft loss, 2% bearing loss in the rear(for swing axle) 10% loss for tires. That's 42% of crank power lost for 4x4's...seems reasonable for a chain drive sport quad to loose 17hp out of 51

My 400EX's title also had the HP listed, and yeah, I think it is measured at the crank (32HP I think) not at the rear wheels...

With all that commotion going on beneath you I guess your lucky that you have something left over just to get your rear wheels moving. Chet
