Pa has come out with a new law that "ALL" atv's must be registered with the state. The fee is $20. No more will atvs that were used only on private property go without registering and must have liability insurance. I never registered mine or had insurance. It never left my property unless it went to the track.(Twice) What do you guys think of this. I am selling my 300ex for a 250R racebike to be used only on my property and at the race track but now I am just selling my 300ex and I will buy a racecar instead of a quad. But damn would I've liked to have an R. If you are intrested in my ex it is a 99 raced twice at local fair(NOT ABUSED) and comes with extras. Email for more details and pics. For for info on our new law visit-

If you only ride on private land you get the registration for free.

what does the new law mean to out of state quads that come to penn to ride? i got buddies in pittsburgh and have been up there to ride with them several times and probably several more?
|
The law reads that " atv's from another state are not required the register their atv if they can provide identification that they do not reside in PA" So it looks like you don't have to worry about coming up here buddy. Just come ready to ride.

After you pay your $20.00 fee you can almost bet that within a year or two they will see how many ATV's there actually is running around and start to tax you on your Atv the way they do property owners. Your $20.00 fee and then lets say one half of one percent of the value of your ATV. Big Brother will be watching those ATV's. Chet

i dont have a title on either one of mine! the other two are regisered and going to stay that way! haha! the R and X can become "parts" quads real soon! if they dont "run" why should they be registered? if they are only at a racetrack and my garage floor i dont see the need!

Sounds like a lucrative way for the state and the insurance companies to make money. What meaningful service or benefit will they provide for these fees? They will probably use the money from the registration fees to fund other state government program. The insurance companies will charge an inflating premium to insure the "high risk" group of young ATV riders. It is irritating to hear of another government intrusion into peoples lives. Its like the government and insurance companies are a sort of mafia and they want you to pay for their "protection".

They have had something similar to this in Indiana for years. Its called off/road registation numbers. The cost is $6.00 for 3 years for each ATV or dirtbike. The numbers they assign you must be displayed on the vehicle. With these numbers in certain counties you can ride on the roads legally if you move over to the side when a car is approaching. If your on the road riding and the game warden stops you and your not registered he will give you a ticket which could approach upwards of near $100.00. Then each year they give you a tax bill assessed on the value of your registered vehicles. I am not sure why but the last 2 years my tax bill and my neigbors for these vehicles has been Zero. I assume there must be extra money in the kettle for Indiana not to tax me. Its been worth it to me to be able to ride the rock roads and go all over the county. I will pay for that privilege and let the State of Indiana know I have ATV's and Dirtbikes. Chet

Must be nice to ride on the road! But i don't think theres anyway they will allow that in PA.

Out here in Ca. you have to register all vehicles, including off-road that are used on private property only. ATV/ATCs only pay $21 every other year for "green" sticker. This money is supposed to help pay for maintenance of state OHV parks. Insurance is not required.
