1984 TRX 200 parts wanted
#1
Need these used parts:
Want these parts:
Exhaust (FMF says nothing, same for a couple others);
2 front wheels ($120 each for a factory wheel? Naah! Machine is NOT worth it).
BTW: getting Douglas direct from factory might be trustworthy, as dealers typically confuse my 1984 TRX200 (not SX) with an 86 TRX200SX (yuh, the SX was a thousand times more popular, fer sure), so I don't trust a quick "Yeah - $32 each" response. Anyone ever buy from Douglas directly? If so, your experiences?
Also want front and rear plastic and rear toolbox cover (if I remember correctly, Maier says nothing listed and factory again too much $$$); 2 rear lights; compression release assy (it runs, hole in the head is plugged, but I don't know what was removed); spring assy for hi-lo-reverse shift lever.
I'm not too quick on replies, but thanks for posting - I'll get to it soon.
BTW: no, I never heard anything spinning after I shut it off; yes, I need a small football field to turn it (thanks for the grinding tip); it is very stable, mostly 'cuz it has about 4" longer wheelbase than an '86 TRX200SX. The oil drain cover is supposed cover a thimble shaped screen, held down by a spring. Mine does. Wanna trade rigs? ;-)
Hints: Having a tough time starting it? Give up on the electric start, especially if you've upped the compression ratio via piston change: during compression peak, the starter sucks voltage so low that ignition won't fire - use the rope.
And FWIW according to local Honda shop - the TRX200 was the first 4 wheeled product offered in the USA, was introduced in 1983, and ended in early 1985; didja know this is a shaft drive? And it also uses a trailing arm front suspension (not wishbone, not A-arms)
Again, Thanks to all, for all. :-)
