I never plowed before. I am either going to buy a $700 snow blower, or a 48" blade set up for the Prairie 650.

<u>Questions</u>
1. How many inches of snow can I push on one pass?
2. Would the blade get a 6&quot; deep job done faster? I know the blade is bigger. I'm gonna use a manual lift.
3. When doing a driveway do you use the blade without angling it and just blow side to side. If so, Can it even push 6&quot; straight for 40 feet? How is this really done?
4. It is slow, or a pain to use the EZ lift from moose?? I'm not getting a winch.
5. Would a 60&quot; blade be too much for my quad? Meaning will I have to make additional passes because it can push less inches than a 48&quot;?
6. Should I get a straight or angled blade. I have a small driveway.

If you have a small driveway and you are worried about getting it dont so fast then get the 60&quot; and get the strait one because they all angle. Yes you willl be fine plowing 40' in 6&quot; I have done more lenght and more snow on my old 350 the 650 should have NO problem.

Plowing on a quad is alot funner then a snow thrower,BUT...
a small driveway is a pain in the a$$
unless you have a circle drive or open at both ends.
If your drive is 40' it might be worth the blower.

As for pushing snow =
that beast you have will push plenty of snow.The blade is @12&quot; plus a top flap so you could probably push (straight)16&quot; forever,it'll just start rolling off the sides.

I've got a blade for my Polaris and I would suggest getting the wider blade. By the time you overlap each run to collect what spills of the end of the blade, the runs get pretty narrow. Get a mount that lets you swivel the blade either way. I have no problem pushing 6 or 8 inches if its fresh. Don't expect to scrape packed snow like a plow or bobcat can. You don't have the weight and will just ride up over it. Some guys here put chains on to help push more snow, but if you want to have fun on the trails its a pain to take them off and on.
Check the mounting system carefully before you buy. Some are a real headache to take off and on, and hang down too far to trail ride if you leave it in place. Some brands have a bracket that tucks up nicely so you can just pop the plow off and leave the bracket on. Sorry I don't know them by brand.

The manual lift is fine. I've plowed all day with no wear and tear on the left arm.
