I'm considering an atv spreader to help me overseed a small mountain field and road. I'm considering a rear rack mounted Moose type. Do they work well with grass seed and clover? Will much product get on the ATV (corrosion concern for fertilizer)? A tow behind looks cumbersome, are they better or worse? Thanks in advance for your help.

My neighbor has a foreman 400 and he has put an electric type spreader on the back rack held down by bungi straps and it seems to work in his field pretty good. I remember one time is was all upset when I went to see him because he had purchased cheap seed and it was clogging up in the spreader because of the different sizes of seed if I remember that correctly.

I have had a electric rack mount seeder since the 80s,it works great in fact I just got done spreading 1000lbs of clover seed.Make sure you get one that has an agitator in it.Alot of your grass seeds will bridge up,when there is no agitator.(been there done that)The brand of seeder I have is a herd,I would highly reccomend it!

Thanks for the info. Where can you get a "herd"? Front or rear mount? Any problem with corrosion from fertilizer?
