I put a K&N filter and FMF Megamax pipe (with 7 discs) on the 250. My only other mod is 6 one inch vents in the airbox lid. I was expecting a big difference in performance, because I had made these mods to the Recon, and it perked the little Recon up quite a bit. Well, the difference on the 250 wasn't very spectacular!!! There is a little gain on the top end, but if anything, there is a little LOSS at the low end.

I talked to the mechanic (this is a guy I really trust and has worked on all my bikes for years) who did the jetting, and he said he went form a 95 main to a 105, but the needle and pilot stayed the same. He said there just isn't much more you can do to the little 250. His girlfriend has one, and he said he has tried all kinds of things (like decoring the silencer, etc.), and has been unable to milk any more performance out of the engine. This is actually a COMPLIMENT TO HONDA, because they have gone about as far as they can with the stock engine!

What is everybody elses experience with mods??? In hind sight, I could have saved my money and been just as well off!!
