Ok i'm setting my R up for motocross and i just ordered +2w+0f and i have the stock swing arm when i get to order a swing arm what do you think the best size would be -1(mines a 86) or standard because of the not forward a-arms and what brand would be a good one for a good price. like 400-500 Thanks

besides my frame the swing arm was the only thing i kept i had it power coated but besides that i like the way it handles with it i know aftermarket would be a little lighter but.. so if you ask me it loooks like you have done so normal hop up take that $400-500 and save up for a 310 or 330 kityou will notice a hell of a lot more from that change than a swing arm change anyways good luck and have fun building it

I would definitely get a -1 (stock '88/'89 length). Arens, lonestar, leager, houser are all good.

If you dont have the a-arms that are extended forward 1" I would stay with the 86-87 length swingarm. Walsh makes an extremely strong swingarm.

Is my wheelbase the same as the 88-89 i heard that the 88-89 have +1f arms and i know that they have a -1 swingarm. Should i have got the +2w +1f and got the -1 swing arm instide. Hear is why i want a new swing arm. The pro around hear told me that the stock swing arms crack and so thats why i should get one but then he was telling me that he has broke 5 laegar swingarms at $550 a pop. Do you think some one could take my swingarm and wels supports on it and maybe shortin it -1. Thanks

On an '86 frame running MX, go with a -1 swingarm (or a standard '88 length swingarm) and +2,+1 a-arms. And good choice staying away from Laeger on their swingarms, they are not very strong. Houser or PRP make better swingarms.

Any swingarm could break eventually, but the stock will break alot sooner than an aftermarket swingarm. A guy that rides locally bought a Roll Design swingarm and it cracked about a month after he bought it. I would shop around and find the best deals and then buy one.

Is it going to hurt my handling if i get the -1 swingsrm and the not forward arms so that would make my bike's wheelbase 1" shorter than most motocross R's. I don't want to ship my A-Arms back when they get here so should i just keep them and go -1 swign arm and have the 1" shoter wheelbase. The pro around here said that he is running -2 swingarm and +2w+1f a-arms but that is on a laegar lt 250. He said it is good at the holeshot and corrners but it kind of a hand full in the ruff stuff. Thanks

No matter what you decide to buy you will get used to riding it. What works for one person the next wont like it. If i was me I would send the +2+0 arms back and get what you want to begin with, It will save you a lot of time in the end. But if you decide to keep the arms I would still get the shorter swing arm. If you get two wrongs its more $$$$$$ to change to what you want and the diference is small any way.
