I need someone to help me out with the timing of my superquad. It's a 350X with a CB750 v-tein engine, and LT125 based front end.

It hasn't been run in a few years. I decided to get it out today in preparation of the FourStrokeWars and noticed that it has a slight cough just over 10,000RPM. I have the bike tach in place and it does this just as it goes past the '10' on the tach. i have never noticed this before until today.

I need to know how to check the initial timing, valve timing, and points timing just to be sure the problem isn't related to timing.

Your engine mystery just got even more interesting.

No V-Twin Honda EVER made had a points ignition.

Check around first. You don't trust me with your engine number? Call your local dealer with the number.

You aren't somehow just confusing engine designs are you? That would be an honest mistake that would explain the whole mess.

Chet only V twin from the 80's I could find---1983 shadow 750

I carried it to the Honda dealership today and dropped it off. When I went back to pick it up after work they told me that the engine was out of a 1979 CX500 non turbo model. They said this thing has nearly 95HP stock and they found that there was no problem with the engine or electrical system. I suppose that I was hitting the rev limiter.

I know a guy who has a Blaster frame that I can buy cheap. I am going to convert the entire engine to that frame and sell the 350X three wheeler frame if I can get it back together. I hope to have everything together in time for the four stroke wars.

The turbo models had such a huge lag time that they included shock therapy grips and a ten hour course with each one sold so you would hang onto the grips at the appropriate time when it finally spooled up.

i'm glad you found out what motor you had. i was going to inform you that honda never made a cb750 v-twin. all the cb 750's were inline 4 cylinders.

There is NO WAY that a "stock" cx500 has 95h.p.!!!!!!!!!! Infact, I'm willing to bet the 650cc(turbo) only had around 60h.p.

The person(s) that told you that is eathier pulling you leg or they don't know what the H@ll their talking about.

I'm not trying to discourage you from your project, but you need to know,that a CX500 has approx. 25 to 30H.P.(sorry dude)

The only HONDA that produced 95h.p. in 1979 was the CBX 1000(in-line 6)

Don't give SirClip any new ideas.......LMFAO!!!!

First of all, i already had the idea today to get rid of the CX engine and go with a 4 cylinder. There is an inline 6 cylinder to?? How hard are these to find. I'm not trying to steal an idea, but if they are easy to find, I would consider putting it into the Blaster instead. The only reason that I decided not to run the CX engine is because it simply will not fit. Me and my brotherinlaw worked on it all day before finding that out the hard way.

So far, I have decided to run an inline 4 cylinder. I checked on some sites and have narrowed it down to either a CB900 or CB1100. But I'm going to look into the inline 6 before making a commitment.
