Cheaper Speedometer Anyone?
Once in awhile I see people asking about speedometers. Anyone ever consider using a bike speedo?
The only downfall is that mine doesn't have a back light. But I don't ride at night that much. My speedo has 8 functions- speedometer, top speed, average speed, odometer, trip distance, clock, trip time, and scan. All for $20. and it's very accuarate. It mounts by the light switch and I can reach it without taking my hands off the bars. It's also very visible while riding. |

Coyotechaster,
I used a $20 bike speedo I got at Walmart on my rancher. It worked excellent, however like you said I had no back light. Besides that it never let me down, I've taken it through snow, water, heat and the thing never failed. I mounted mine on my front rack using the closest cross bar to the handle bars. There was enough room in-between the front brake drum (dosn't spin) to glue the sensor (with wire) and the drum cover (spins) to glue the magnet. Just make sure to program the speedo to the diameter of your tire, on my Rancher I had to set it to 24 inches. |
