I have been thinking about buying a pair of riding boots. I do mostly wood and trail riding and have been wearing work/hunting type boots. Are there any pros and cons to wearing motocross type riding boots ?
I'm considering purchasing a pair of Thor T-20's.
What do you'll wear ? Thanks for all suggestions.

I rode for the first 16 years without riding boots, now I won't ride without them. They feel weird at first, but after you get used to them, they are great. I like the fact that the boot displaces energy throughout the whole boot, so your arches do not hurt when you jump or hit hard bumps. If your feet hurt when you ride, they won't hurt anymore.

I have worn Sidi boots for many years and altho have changed to one ot two other brands, I've always gone back to Sidi. Currently I'm using the Sidi Flex boot which has a hinge at the ankle, makin it easier to walk when necessary. Sidis are an Italian top grain leather. they cost a little more than split grain but are more supple & require little or no breakin. Both give the same protection, other things being equal.Axo makes a good boot also, as does Alpine in several models. I couldn't imagine riding without boots in any serious riding. I have broken both ankles & have a pin in one; both get-offs were while wearing full gear and I shudder to think what would have happened to my feet/ankles were it not for the boots.

Alpinstars have come out with a new line of boots last year. The cost is about $150. They are made for atv's with the tread on the sole going both directions, not like the mx ones only going one way. I think that they are called m-4's, but not sure.

Many 250r's

I like my Fox Formas. They do cost about $250, but it seems to me that it is well worth the money to buy good boots to protect you. As someone else pointed out the do distribute the shock through the whole boot when jumping and riding aggressively.
