Honda Rancher transmisson problem
Hey. I have a 2002 Honda Rancher 4X4 ES and today I was riding and when I was coasting at about 35 in 5th gear there was a grinding noise for like 2 seconds and then stopped then did it again for a second then stopped. After that I couldn't shift out of 5th gear with the electric shift or the manual shifter. After I got home when I pushed it backwards there was a noise like something was knocking around (a light tapping noise as it rolled). Me and my dad think a gear is jammed but I just wanted to see what some of you guys think it is. Thanks.

The most likely cause is the gearshift linkage, under the front engine cover. Maybe a 200$ repair at a dealer around here. If it turns out to be more than that, such as internal transmission repair, and your dealer can't get Honda to buy the repair, call them yourself and plead your case.

Ok...Do you know if there is anyway that I can get it back into neutral??

If you are thinking about having Honda look at it. Don't do anything to it yourself until the verdict is in from Honda. Good luck.

probably no way to get it back in neutral without removing the front engine cover to access the linkeage. You could loosen the clutch adjustment locknut, and turn your adjustment screw counterclockwise to engage your clutch, better to just wheel it backwards tho.
