Update on Rincon's Abrupt Shifting
I have posted about having 2 Rincon's that I own. They were purchased one month apart. Both had the abrupt shifting in forward and reverse. I thought that was dangerous in areas where slow and controlled maneuvering was required so I elected to take them back to the dealer about 4 months ago.
They both came back with the idle set higher, and to make a long story short all the fix then did was instead of bringing the idle from say 1000 rpm to 1450 where the transmission engaged, that window was closed down to the engine revving from 1400 to 1450 then the transmission shifted (still) abruptly. That issue got back to the way it was originally as soon as the weather warmed up and the idle was lower. Now they both went in again. I explained to my dealer what has happened, 3 days later I go to pick them up and the mechanic was asked to explain to me what he has done. It is the throttle sensor he said, that darn thing (in his opinion he said) is very sensitive. I had to set both forward and reverse to 2.7Ω ohms (resistance reading). I myself could not write his explanation to me but I will say this, both my atv's one now with almost 1100 miles and the other with 980 are the smoothest shifting atv's I have ever been on, and adding to this is the fact that the shifting from 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd has been so much improved (in my opinion) to what it should have been (shifting slightly sooner). I hope you guys can go to your dealer and have that looked at. The Rincon can shift so smooth from a stand still you will as impressed as I am. I have made two 7 hr trips on both Rincons and nothing has changed since they were set properly. Hope this helps some of you guys that are looking for answers. For me, I just can't wait to ride again. |
Update on Rincon's Abrupt Shifting
Glad to hear they are fixed. Isn't it great to have ATV's you love to ride? We can't wait to get on ours. Wish we could ride it alot more than we do. We have only put 3000 miles on our's in two years.

Update on Rincon's Abrupt Shifting
My Rincon is doing the same thing as yours was and the Honda dealers in the area have no idea what to do. Could you get me the Honda dealers number where you had yours fixed so I could give them a call.
Thanks |
