Honda 300EX vs. Polaris 325 Magnum
#1
We are going to be needing to replace our aging 300EX Honda fairly soon and are considering a Polaris 325 Magnum. The Honda has been good to us, but I like the ride and auto tranny featrure of the Polaris. Anyone with experiences or comparisons? How well do the 325s hold up. Does the oil cooling system on the Polaris work as well as they claim? We do a lot of weed spraying with a rack mounted spot sprayer & the Honda gets way too hot at times in my opinion. When the valves start to rattling, we either shut it down or take it on a 'cool down' run. The Honda oil cooler costs almost as much as to trade to a new 325, even if we put it in. Does anyone make an aftermarket kit (with fan) that fits for a more reasonable price? thanks

Farmr123,
I've had my Y2K 325 MAG 4x4 for over a year and haven't had any problems with it...'cept that lousy squeel in the front end, which I still can't isolate.
It only happens at slow speed but can really get on your nerves if you're poking around.
Test drive one at slow take off speeds and see if the one your going to buy does it. Don't buy it if it does, go find another one. Mine did it from the git go...
Other than that it has been a good bike. Oil cooler seems to work ok, too. Doesn't get too hot, even when rode double.
Not the fastest bike on the block, for sure, but for a farm rig it would likely be fine.

Greetings,
I tried out a 325 Magnum and found it underpowered. I believe Dirt Wheels and a number of riders posting here agreed. Its just too small an engine for too heavy a machine. It may fit your uses -- I wouldn't tell you not to test it out -- but I'd consider some other comparably priced models. Try a search to see what others have said about it.
