They used to say that once you shoot a white deer you'll have terrible luck hunting from then on. The white deer are definitely at a disadvantage in the woods. I've seen a handful of white deer. They don't seem to last long. I have some pictures of a white deer on some film in one of my cameras. It's been in there for a few years.
Yamaha660R- What is the common weight for a grown deer in W. Virginia? Just curious.

A 4 1/2 year old mature buck(or doe for that matter) can weight around 170-200lbs field dressed.
Anything younger then that can range from 120-150lbs field dressed depending on how good the forage does that year. This year the mast was scarce, and most of the deer are alittle lighter then normal.
And while I have taken a few deer with the bow since I got the white deer, I went all of gun season without seeing a buck!?!?!?!?!
Could it be the curse of the white deer?

Well, at least 3 points on one side which usually means 6 points.

Why kill it if your not going to Grill it?

Most Native Americans consider them spiritual. One local white dear was killed by a car and there were lawsuits filed for it. Seems it was famous in the local town and the residents wanted it stuffed or something like that. Sounds like you got some bad karma coming your way.LOL

Bucks were scarce this year in the northern parts of wv to. All i saw was a button buck and one spike sat after dark on the last day. Skunked this year for sure. there are no point restrictions in wv.

No point restriction's, but I sure wish there was. I would love for them to cut back on the total number of deer that can be killed(it's something like 9 or 10 now with all the tag's you can get), and I hope they set the antler restriction's 3 or 4 on one side.
I think it would definetly help the herd. So far, the only thing I have heard is that they are going to cut back on the total number of deer that can be taken. There has been 2-3 years of this taking 9-10 deer on a full license, and the herd really is starting to show it. Hopefully the rumor's are true, and it's back around 3-5 deer a year, with some antler restriction's for the buck's.
