what is your # 1 choice rifle cartridge for deer huniting?
 

My favorite is my 30-06 semi auto, i also have a 20 gauge, 12 gauge, (model 870's) Remington Model 700 chambered in 300 rem. ultra magnum. i would not use that thing on a deer, only moose or bigger. what are you guys using? Also, i think the 300 rem ultra mag is a huge cartridge wouldn't you all agree, i like the saums also but i like my ultra magnum, i guess i would use it on nothing smaller than a bear.

For whitetail I prefer my .243, the big muley's and long shots I go for the 300 Win mag. I really like my .30-06 and suppose I would prefer it if I expected to see both but seem to overlook this wonderful cartridge.

I like my Brownings, a BLR .308 for the normal use, BAR .300 Win mag for long shots, caribou, moose, bear, ect. and a Gold Hunter for the shotgun only areas. Want to get a BAR .270 WSM next. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I use the 7mm rem mag in 150 ballistic tips, or the .243 50gr ballistic tips. The .243 is used for head shots on does.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I use the magum for the woods. That and I hate it when you squeeze the trigger and the dam deer runs off to die. I like em to fall where they stand.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I also use the 30.06 game master, great gun. I prefer the pump over the bolt action rifles for follow up shots, not that we need it. Right guys?

well unless your aiming sucks, i usually drop them in one shot and if i don't, than they just fall a few yards later. i will use any rifle or shotgun on a deer, but i also could use my model 700 .300 rem ultra magnum, but that would be too easy, i use that gun for anything bigger than a deer, like moose, elk, bear, chipmunks lol.
