I agree, but hard to find one now. I do have an Springfield M1A, stainless sniper barrel, 40-rd mags, 30-rd, and 20-rd as well. So, I went for a .223 and they're all gone. I was able to get a Ruger Mini-14 new though with a 20-rd mag. I like it, closest I could get to an AR-15.

The old saying,"You snooze, you lose" sure is applicable. I should have bought a SOCOM a long time ago. Now if you could find one there is no telling how much they would cost. I kind of laughed at my son in law when he was buying up AR copies by S&W and DPMS and when he got a Sig 556 and never unpacked it, not laughing now. I did manage to get a Sig 556 which I really like and already have a Ruger Mini 14 as well as a Colt HBAR, but wish I had gotten a couple more, not that I really need them.

I suppose it is a good thing for me I am not a good "horse trader' and after getting skinned on a couple of trades when I was young, I stopped selling or trading anything and have amassed a pretty good collection. I also give some to my sons, but have plenty left. I never cared much for the EBR's (Evil Black Rifles) until the late eighties and am kicking myself now.

I'm in the market for a new .308 "battle rifle". I had an HK 91 years ago and I deeply regret getting rid of it. I loved that rifle. I'm out of my HK phase now and I'm looking for something other than an HK or CETME. I was looking into the Springfield and even an AR style .308. I don't think I want to go with a FAL so I'm looking at maybe one of FNs new .308s. SCAR Heavy or whatever they're calling it.

I'm definitely going to pick up an FN FS2000 when the market calms down a little. I've got ARs but I'm looking fore a very compact .223 and I really don't want to go with another AR. I've got an AR in the M-4 configuration but I want something more compact. The only AR I intend on buying or building again will be a pistol and maybe an ultra lightweight polymer M-4.

Kel-Tec has an interesting .308 bullpup. It comes with an 18" barrel or a 32" sniper barrel. http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/rfb.htm If you want a bolt-action you can get an Ishapore Enfield 2A for around $200. I think I'd rather have a HK91, AR-10, M1A, or FAL.

I shot an Enfield for the first time in many years just before hunting season. That smle bolt action is like a bank vault door lubed with butter. A thing of beauty. I could sit for hours just working the bolt.

I miss my HK. It was fantastically accurate and was a joy to shoot. Mangled cases though when it ejected them which made reloading problematic. Unfortunately I wouldn't buy another HK for the simple fact that they detest the civilian market and civilian gun owners. HK can suck it. Other companies make better weapons anyway. Frankly, as much as I loved my 91 I have to admit that HK is more hype than anything else.

I've seen that Kel-Tec advertised but I've never been able to handle one yet. Neat looking for sure. I may end up with an Armalite .308. I have an Armalite Ar-15 HBAR National Match Rifle and it is an excellent weapon. Except for the trigger. Trigger is atrocious. I'm gonna switch the trigger out for an aftermarket unit of some kind.

JARD, Inc. makes adjustable and non-adjustable, single-stage and double-stage, 1.5 - 5 pound triggers for AR-15s and and some other rifles. I got one from Brownells. So far I like it. It's better than stoning the hammer and sear. For a target rifle I'd go lighter but the 3 pound one I got is good for GP. They make a semi-auto .50 BMG too.
