Storage Trunks
#1
I am looking for a storage trunk for my 500cc. I have scanned the web sites and see that there are quite a variety. My use would be moose and deer hunting on very remote trails, mostly riding one-up, but being able to carry a buddy for a distance would be useful. I would be packing the usual gear for a day trip, raingear, lunch, some tools, knives, etc. Any suggestions for best buys and best use-ability. Thanks

I have two different boxes that I use. The first one is made for an atv and the second is not but has a lot more space.

The second one costs about 40 bucks at Walmart and the first one is 120 bucks.

I also use my atv for hunting. I came up with an idea several years ago to add weather tight storage for my gear and not take up rear rack space. I purchased a plastic tool storage box from the Lowes/Home Depot type stores ($38.00.) Heavy duty, aprox. 32 in. long, 14 in. deep and 14 in wide. I have access to a welder and I have welded 2 pieces of 1 1/4 in. square tubing to the rear rack corners, aprox. 32 in. apart. On the box I bolted 2 pieces of 1 in. square tubing to the outside of the box. The 1 in. tubing will slide into the 1 1/4 tubing welded to the rear rack. A pin slides into each piece of square tubing to secure box to atv, pull the 2 pins and the box can be removed and strapped to rear rack if needed. The top of the box is flush with my rear rack, extra area to carry portable stands (strap them to the top of the box.) If this sounds like something you might like to do let me know and I can go into more detail. I have put these on my last 4 atvs and they work great, lots of complements. Good Luck. Purchased a Can Am 650 on Saturday and almost finished installing one on it. I can post some pictures if that can help.

Hey we built our box to custom fit our application from 3/4 plywood and 2x4's. we just took our time and built it right. it looks pretty good and is alot more durable and universal than a store bought one. plus by using wood we were still able to keep the weight down.
