Default Newbie from N.E. Georgia here....

Hello, I am Jim and live in N. Ga. I ride sportbikes, bicycles, kayak, hike and am considering getting an quad... I am 5'5" 170 and will be using it on hilly/forest trails for fun.... I have never rode an atv before but it seems like good fun....

I am really thinking about something used, good quality, in the 400-660 range

I want something with enough power to get thru some thick stuff and steep uphills and is reliable... What do you guys suggest???

Thanks and well met
JimT

Thanks HawkeyeRider, I was afraid of that I guess that means I will be probably looking in the $3500 area for a good used one.... I guess the best thing is to find people in my area and pick their brains on the riding areas and the best options, who knows I may be able to find a good used ATV around here...

Welcome from Hart county!

I ride a kawi. Priarie 360, its been a good all around quad for me, I mostly use it for deer hunting and trail riding and some mud play but not much.

I have rode at Locust Stake park in Habersham County but didnt care for the 2 way trails there, almost got into a head on with a bike. I mostly ride in south Georgia with my cousin and its fairly flat.

Wow thanks for the info.... I live 10 miles from Locust Stake Park and pretty close to you, I live in Cornelia.

I had no idea that was a two way trail, guess that could be pretty dangerous.

I guess riding trails like that, I would be better off with a 4x4? Someone recommended the Polaris 500 4x4 with reverse....

One thing I am realizing it is not going cheap to get into this....

Thanks again
Jim

No, It's not cheap. But if you take your time and shop around, you'll be able to find a good deal. If you are diligent in taking care of your good deal, it'll last a long time. I'm partial to 4x4.I would suggest 4x4 if you plan on hitting mud holes. Also better for trail riding.
