Well here i am again asking for advice from you guys that know how to tune a quad. I have an 03 prairie 650 that is bone stock 220 miles. I just got it back from the dealer from first service. Aside from it being 1/2 quart overfull of oil and the shift lever on backwards (easily solved) it has this slight tick when you rev it slightly and let off in the carb area, the noise seems to go away after it warms up.

Secondly it is a little doggy on low end when you first hit the throttle but it runs very good after that,from 1/4 throttle up it seems very powerfull.

The pilot screws are set at 1 and 1/2 turns on the rear carb and 1 and 3/4 on the front carb. Is this the proper adjustment?

I am pretty mechanical and really don't want to take it back to the dealer. Is there any other srews on the carb to adjust other than the pilot screw and what exactly does the pilot screw adjust?
The dealer said they adjusted the valves and synced the carbs?

Any help from you guys that seems to know how to make em scream please reply.

Well for starters;

If it was your first service you didn't need your valves adjusted or your carbs synced. Your pilot screws should be turned out at least 2 1/4 turns each.... this is stock. As for your slight tick mine does the same thing.... i was told that it's the lifters getting oil into them, nothing to serious to worry about. Get a twin air filter or a uni filter... cheap mod helps a little with the low end power.

Hope this helps... oh one last thing, get a service manual for 50.00 from the dealer and don't take it to the dealer again unless it's something major that warrenty will cover... a lot of dealers really got there heads in the clouds if ya now what i mean.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I found that mine runs the best with the pilot screws out 3 turns, start easier as well.

You might consider putting in a black driven spring also, this will prolong belt life and make it respond better. It is around $24.00 from EPI.

Find a post from NYROC and look at his site, it is very helpful and will answer most of your questions before you need to ask them.
